ENVIRONMENT

Action Chelsea for the Respect of the Environment

Action Chelsea for the Respect of the Environment has been busy securing parcels of land in perpetuity to maintain biodiversity in fauna and flora. As such, in 2022, 100 ACRE woods was secured, along with the McMartin forest. At Leacross, we believe in helping to save the environment and look for alternative ways to house people, without destroying valuable wildlife corridors.

“When I stepped onto the top deck of the ship, I was surrounded by the ocean, glorious for its immense size, layered with the infinite mosaic of blues, whites and turquoises. Majestic icebergs dotted the landscape. I stayed there soaking in the beauty of the Arctic. My sincerest thank you for giving me the opportunity to witness the Arctic firsthand!”

Denise Lee
Students on Ice 2016

“In 2020, I became a Leacross Foundation scholarship recipient. The scholarship has further motivated me to pursue my interests in health and science, Indigenous peoples in Canada and women’s issues in general. My secondary school major research project is in particular focused on how internal and external environments affect Inuit health. I am planning to continue studies in this subject area at university. After COVID-19, I look forward to having the chance to finally participate in a Students on Ice expedition.”
